Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church

November 2024

Lamplighter

Happy November, the month of Thanksgiving. Regardless of how things develop with respect to elections, weather, health concerns, or whatever is unsure, we should remember to always give thanks to our Lord. We may not know what the future holds, but we know here at St. Paul’s who holds the future and we know and love Him! Even through our trials and temptations we should thank and praise God. God has never changed. God is so good, loving, merciful, powerful and holy. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to be our Savior. He sent us the Holy Ghost to be our Comforter, our Intercessor, Teacher and Guide. We should thank God every day with many great praises.

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

As we prepare our homes and hearts for Thanksgiving, we should be steadfast in our faith. As we gather around our Thanksgiving tables with family and friends, passing the turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, we should also fill our hearts with gratitude and praise.

November, despite its bleakness, fallen leaves and the approaching chill of winter reminds us that our hearts are warmed by God’s love. November is an interesting month. November celebrates All Saints Day which will be commemorated on Sunday, November 3. All Saints Day remembers all the saints and martyrs in our Christian walk of life.

We also remember our Veterans on Veterans’ Day, Monday, November 11th. God Bless America!

We are so very thankful for Pastor Dennis Rockett for serving as our pastor three Sundays a month celebrating Holy Communion.

Please enjoy reading the words (and maybe sing or hum them) to the hymn 785 in our Lutheran Service Book, “We Praise You, O God”. Remember, “With You Lord, beside us, Your Strong Arm Will Guide Us.”

   We Praise You, O God

We praise You, O God, our Redeemer, Creator;
In grateful devotion our tribute we bring.
We lay it before You, we kneel and adore You;
We bless Your holy name, glad praises we sing.

We worship You, God of our fathers, we bless You;
Through trial and tempest our guide You have been.
When perils o’er-take us, You will not forsake us,
And with your help, O Lord, our struggles we win.

With voices united our praises we offer
And gladly our songs of thanksgiving we raise.
With You, Lord, beside us, Your strong arm will guide us.
To You, our great Redeemer, forever be praised!

Love in Christ, Your Elders,

Donna Munsch, Head Elder

Saint Paul's Activities Calendar

1 Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. 2 Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. 4 For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.

Psalm 33:1 – 4
