Council Meeting Notes

MAY NOTES




CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING

ELDERS

·      Reviewed schedule.

·      Updated the Church Directory.

·      Communion message added to weekly bulletin.

·      Will use Divine Service One for two months and then Divine Service Three for two months.


CHRISTIAN EDUCATION 

·         Birthday cards will be sent to children on “Cradle Roll”.

·         Discussed the future possibility of targeting 10-12 years old to start up Sunday School.


MISSIONS AND EVANGELISM

·         Cub Scouts will help with Memorial Day and will provide a float for the parade.

·         Will hand out Rice Krispies bars with label about St. Paul's.

·         Suggestion was made to add Bible verse to labels.

·         We will hand out toy soldiers Armed Forces Day, 5/19/24.


CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP / SOCIAL ACTION

·         Coffee donation container working well.


PROPERTY

·         Repaired bathroom faucet.

·         Replaced plants and landscape.

·         Drip pan installed by James Steindl for A/C air handler in church attic.

  

OLD BUSINESS

·         Church Secretary received training on updating the website.  More information and training by Drew Correa is needed about the Zeffy program.

·         No update on the On-line streaming.

·         Carillon was programmed for 3:00 pm daily and will be programmed for 9:45 am on Sunday mornings.

·         Constitutional Amendment was discussed.  Roy Merz will contact Pastor Gewecke and inquire about our second call list.


NEW BUSINESS

·         Pastor Vossler has requested to come speak to the Council in June about the convention.   Discussed that perhaps this would be better to come in September.

·         Right to Life March in Trenton on September 26th was discussed.

·         The Carillon will be dedicated on June 2nd.  Pastor Rockett will do the dedication and the Lofmark family will be in attendance.

·         Election of Officers and Committees will be held at the Congregational Meeting on June 11, 2024.  Notice will be in bulletin and Lamplighter.

·         Mark Wright will perform on June 23rd.

·         Gerri Gibney will do a presentation about Flowers of the Bible on September 15th.

·         LWML Convention will be held in Edison on August 2-3.  Our Ladies Aid is proposing a Mission Grant in the amount of $3,000 for gym floor project at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch

·         It was mentioned that no one member can make decisions on Council business matters.  Council members should be kept updated via email.

·         Lengthy discussion on Brittany Steindl using our facility was held.  Request will be made to meet with her at our June Council meeting to discuss her future plans.  Six month agreement of $100 was discussed.  Roy Merz will contact her and advise that the Council is requesting a $400 donation.  She will continue to use the facility as discussed at the February Special Meeting.  Agreement will be re-evaluated at the June Council Meeting.

·         Suggestion was made that we should begin working with realtor and financial advisor.

ST. PAUL’S CALL COMMITTEE

The Call Committee is awaiting the second call list from the New Jersey District.
